It’s coming to the big screen…
According to The New York Daily News, the success of Where The Wild Things Are is being looked at as a positive for the upcoming film adaptation of H.R. Pufnstuf. The film will be directed by Conrad Vernon (Shrek 2, Monsters vs. Aliens). Marty Krofft, co-creator of the original show had the following to say…
"Wild Things is very good for us. We always wanted to do low-tech costumes and high-tech heads. But it'll be a big difference in tone, of course. We'll be bright, not dark."
Krofft also plans to stay closer to the source material, something they didn't do well with Land Of The Lost…
"We went with comedy [on Land], which got it greenlit. But we didn't know it was going to go so far in the PG-13 direction and so close to an R rating. Our characters are all likeable, and we have so much goodwill from our fans. So now we know - don't mess with what's worked."
